Tis the season for parties!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and you know what that means! Holiday party after holiday party! Nothing can welcome in this joyous season more than a festive gathering of friends and family, so here are some tips for planning a POSH party.
Rather than having a potluck, where you end up with an excessive amount of food that people don’t want to eat, prepare a few different hor’deuvres that people can snack on throughout the party that are fresh, homemade and will be easy for people to take home at the end of the night.
For many of us, drinks can be a huge concern primarily because of the calorie intake. Party beverages are a must, and nobody wants to sacrifice the good taste for a lower calorie drink. Enter: Refine Cocktail Mixers. The company is fairly new, and is limited to margarita, cosmopolitan and mojito mixers, but they are a great start to delicious holiday beverages! The company has created cocktail mixers with zero calories and no high-fructose corn syrup. Check out their site for creative recipes perfect for any holiday party!
Holiday CD’s are the perfect addition to any party to keep people entertained and enjoying festive music. In addition to the festive ambiance, who doesn’t love a good game of white elephant? It’s the simplest game to take up time at a party, and can cost as much money as you choose! Ask guests to bring a wrapped gift (serious or funny, you can determine) within a certain price range. Sitting in a circle with the gifts in the center, each person is given a number. Numbers are drawn from a hat and when a guests number is drawn they choose whichever gift they want. However, if another person wants the gift a different guest took they can “steal” it from them, requiring that person to pick a new gift. This continues until all the gifts are gone, and is sure to provide some competition and good laughs.
Get creative with home decorations this year. The “Winter Wonderland” home look is popular this season. Use silver and white decorations with hints of Christmas reds, purples or greens rather than going crazy with your typical colors. Empty vases are another perfect way to decorate the home by filling it with different ornaments, leaves or other festive fillers.
Look up fun treats, and try homemaking the egg nog this year! Pottery Barn has put together some great Holiday Party ideas too! You’ll be sure to have a party that’s POSH, personal and full of Holiday cheer!
