Homework. Sigh. We didn’t like it. Our kids don’t like it. Will the cycle ever end!?
Now that we are the parents, we get to enjoy keeping our kids on task and making sure we are encouraging responsibility and mental growth. Which is always fun and easy, right? Even for those of us that have kids who embrace the classroom and the endless pages of worksheets, it’s good for us to get the right tools to help our kids enjoy learning!
Modern Mom, Babble and Parenting are some of my favorite blogs to read whether it’s for “just for mommy” articles or helpful tips! So what do they have to say?
Read TO your kids, read WITH your kids and read AROUND your kids. This is as great way to show them that you are on their team. It’s not just something adults make kids do, it’s something we like to do too! Read more from that article by Jenny Lewis, here.
What about homework stations? In many cases, setting up an area that is designated for homework could make it more fun and enjoyable. It also makes it more rewarding when they get to leave the homework station! Check out this article from Babble with 13 ideas for easy homework stations!
Parenting also wrote a great article on how we can help our kids with homework AND how cool are these apps that can help your kids learn cursive? Technology is playing such a huge role in how our kids are educated and also how their education is supplemented. There are COUNTLESS resources online, via apps or movies for helping our kids learn and as parents, we should definitely find ways to utilize these tools to engage our kids. If they love iPads, learning might not be as bad if they can learn by an educational iPad game.
On that note, what apps or games are YOU using to help teach your kids? Share your favorites with us and other moms!
